Journey to Montreal

The journey to Montreal from Lake Placid began with a shuttle bus trip down from the mountains to Westport station. The train up to Montreal and the train down to New York cross over near Westport – the Adirondak line is single track here. The station is also a theatre, with the former ticket office acting as the box office. You can see Lake Champlain in the background from the station.

The train runs north, along the western side of Lake Champlain. The first picture with the brown earth is where they checked our passports.

Gradually the view included more industrial sights.

There was a lot of identical dwellings built in housing developments on the outskirts of Montreal. Some looked like haunted houses when they were newly built, presumably before they got haunted.

Then Montreal. For some reason they turn out most of the lights on the train as you come into Montreal station, and the station is in twilight as well. I have no idea why.
