Lake George – Fort William Henry

Lake George was the scene of battles between the British and the French in the 18th century. The British built Fort William Henry at the south of the Lake, and the French were at the north. Both sides teamed up with the indigenous people, although these alliances proved complex as they played by different rules.

The French burnt down the fort, but failed to drive out the British from the area. A replica fort has been constructed in Lake George. A must see if you like to see guns and canons in action.
